Canada Summer Jobs Program

The Canada Summer Jobs program is now accepting applications until Friday February 2/18.

Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) provides funding to help employers create summer job opportunities for students. It is designed to focus on local priorities, while helping both students and their communities

CSJ provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees to create summer job opportunities for young people aged 15 to 30 years who are full-time students intending to return to their studies in the next school year.

Co-operative Education Incentive Funding:

Co-operative Education Incentive (CEI) funding helps NS employers hire talented Acadia University Co-op students for 4 or 8 months starting May 2018. Program guidelines are available online here.

Deadline to apply: January 26, 2018

CEI provides 50% of the wage, or $7.50/hour which is matched by you as the employer (plus 4% vacation pay and deductibles). Acadia Co-op work terms must be paid, discipline-related, and a minimum of 35 hours/week for a minimum period of 12 weeks.

To apply, send a detailed job description, including the following information:
  1. Position Title, Start and End Dates, Hourly Wage ($15/hour minimum), Hours per week, Work Location and Program of Study
  2. Duties: Detail activities the student will be expected to perform.
  3. Supervisor: Identify the person the student will directly report to over the duration of the placement
  4. Education level: Identify number of years and type of post-secondary education required to fulfill job tasks
  5. Required competencies: The measurable or observable knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors critical to successful job performance
  6. Work term outcomes: Detail the expectations of what the student should achieve by the completion of the work term

Co-op funding is now being administered by the province through the LaMPSS online information system. LaMPSS Support can be reached toll-free at 1-877-404-7074.
